Different sketchbooks underlay different usage. The cheaper the book gets, the quicker the drawings are made, and the more experiments are done respectively. Everything one would consider wasteful if a more costly sketchbook would be treated likewise.
The displayed sketchbooks serve as clarification and finalisation of the master project but are in use as daily companion as well.
Therefore, they are compromised by the intrusion of “reality” – more clearly:
by the daily observations someone trying to get to a somewhat unique standing point towards one’s own perception of reality cannot simply pass or ignore.
Those books are trying to establish a collection of subjects and topics alongside composition sketches that will be used as a reference while working on the larger images which might be the outcome of the work invested into the preparation phase.
